I Tried Target's $5 Wine and Never Want to Drink Anything Else Ever Again

If you want the best wine deal of your life, run, do not walk, to the nearest Target. In late August the store introduced California Roots, a line of $5 bottles of wine, and they’re finally available.

The line, which includes a red blend, cabernet, pinot grigio, chardonnay, and moscato, doesn’t disappoint. It’s honestly hard to believe that they’re all only $5, and I’m going to have a difficult time paying more than that for a bottle of wine ever again.

Here they are, ranked by deliciousness, plus what you should know about each bottle:

1. Red Blend

Ruben Chamorro

One sip of this red blend, and you’ll be thinking, There’s no way this is only $5. It’s smooth with cherry notes and a hint of spice. Fair warning: This is a very dark red that stains easily. If you’re going to drink it, I hope you have some Wine Wipes.

2. Cabernet

Ruben Chamorro

This cabernet is juicy with a flavor profile of cherry, vanilla and toasted oak. It tastes like a cozy fall night — and also like an expensive wine you would only drink if you were out to dinner with your parents.

3. Chardonnay

Ruben Chamorro

This traditional California chardonnay has a crisp and oaky finish. Its aroma is filled with creamy peaches, fruit, and apples.

4. Moscato

Ruben Chamorro

It’s sweet but not overbearing and has a delicious aroma of creamy peach and melon flavors.

5. Pinot Grigio

Ruben Chamorro

The California Roots pinot grigio tasted sweeter than the brand’s moscato, so if you like sweet, grab a bottle of this. It’s fruity with pear and peach aromas.
